Glass Inlaid Marble was first seen in October 2001 with the opening of the Eclipse Bar in Fulham. For Eclipse, Artifex created five wall-mounted panels featuring abstract designs by renowned artist, Alan Halliday and a bar in yellow Iranian marble.
The ‘Eclipse’ panels created from Italian travertine and infused with amber glass, came into their own in the evening – illuminated from behind they filled the interior with a warm, soothing glow and were a popular talking point with visitors. Similar panels were created for the Eclipse Bar in Wimbledon Village in 2002. Artifex London went on to create a bar for Eclipse in South Kensington in 2003 as well as bars for the Diva and Boujis nightclubs which also belong to the Ignite Group.
Unfortunately Eclipse, Fulham is no longer in existence but the Group still has two bars in London, in Chelsea and in South Kensington, and most recently has opened in Barcelona. Following their success with Eclipse, Artifex London and Alan Halliday were selected to collaborate again on the refurbishment of the public areas of the InterContinental hotel on London’s Park Lane in 2006.
