Corinthia Hotel Lisbon is a stylish, modern 5-star hotel 5km from the capital’s Portela Airport in Sete Rios. It is located just across the street from Lisbon Zoo, 2km from the historical centre. The highlight of its location is the majestic view: the hotel overlooks Lisbon’s 18th-century aqueduct and Monsanto Nature Park.
In 2003 GA Design International was chosen to redesign the interior of the 27 storey hotel as part of a €45 million refurbishment program. Jeremy Gunn, the company’s senior designer brought Artifex London in to provide glass-laminated honey onyx for the signature Tempus Bar and Iris Arco Rainbow Onyx for the reception area. The hotel re-opened in May 2004 and these backlit features have proved universally popular with guests and staff alike.
GA Design was in contact with Artifex London again in 2005 in relation to the refurbishment of Intercontinental, London Park Lane, a project they co-designed with J2 Design.
Corinthia Hotel Lisbon has won multiple awards. It was named ‘Luxury Hotel & Conference Centre of the European Continent’ at the World Luxury Hotel Awards in 2014 and was also named ‘Portugal’s Leading Business Hotel’ in 2014 by the World Travel Awards.
Artifex London would like to thank Maria João Galante, Marketing & Public Relations Manager at Corinthia Hotel Lisbon, for generously providing recent photographs of the Tempus Lounge and hotel. Further details about the hotel can be found at www.corinthia.com/hotels/lisbon
